[Alchemy] Creation Story, ancient history, and races
In the beginning, there was the Stone. And the stone was all that there was; light and dark, base and noble, unified into a greater whole. Then the Stone divided, and now, where there had been unity, there was individuation. Where there had been peace, there was discord. The Stone seperated itself into three aspects: Matter, Mind, and Soul. Each of the three seperated even further, blending with others and tearing apart again to form the world and all its creatures, plants, and kinds. The unions also created the Seven True Races, the Noble and the Base, and these that had the greatest portion of Mind and Soul divided the world between them. In the Unified Era, the races lived as harmoniously as shattered beings could, under the Red King of the Angelicae and the White Queen of the Iashae.
It was much later, in the eighty-third year of the reign of Mikael and Kefre, when the King, in his arrogance and his pride, sought to remake the Stone and unite again what had been divided by the gods. His great and blasphemous work required many souls, taken from all of the True Races, which he won by treachery and false accusations of treason, against both Noble and Base. He gathered the imprisoned in his workroom, at the Palace at the center of the world, atop the mountain of Heaven's Spire, and there he committed such a great and terrible transmution that the world itself cried out with rage. The land split, leaving Heaven's Spire alone as the earth buckled and the seas boiled. When the ripples passed, there were five continents where there had been on, with Heaven's Spire the loneliest of them all, guarded by the Knife Reef on all sides. When the Seven Races realized that their monarchs had been the cause of the land's destruction, the majority of them rose up in a great wave, and the Sovereigns' War began.
Although the armies of the Seven Races were large, the Sovereigns had great supplies of fearsome Chimerae, and their most staunch allies, mostly of the Noble Races: the Angelicae, the Iaeshe, and the Dragons. They also had the results of the Great Blasphemy, the new race of humanity. The new race was unique in chimerical history. It possessed mind and soul in abundance, was aggressive and adaptable, were able to become alchemists of great power, and they bred prodigiously. The Sovereigns set the humans high in their armies, and their expanding numbers kept the conflict burning for five decades without cease. But in the end, the humans adapted beyond Mikael and Kefre's ability to control them, and were the instrument of the Sovereigns' defeat.
A deal was struck, between the Seven and the humans, and Earthen assassins were ushered into the Palace to strike the deathblows. After that, the loyalists forces fell apart. For their treachery, humanity had bought immunity from reprisal for their deeds, but none of the Seven ever trusted them, and the Seven True races scattered across the new continents, seeking to rebuild their civilizations and lives. Humanity also scattered, falling into a thousand seperate governments, nations that rose and fell with the tides of time. At times they have welcomed the Seven, at times shunned them, and at times persecuted them, hunting the first races until they are a rare sight in human lands. Other times, it was the other way around. And in this way, an unstable and fractured balance has been maintained.
