I am back from the interview. Thank you very much those who wished me luck. :) It means a lot to me, and I don't think that it went /too/ terribly badly. I got there over an hour early; this was not a stupid thing, because parking on my campus is TERRIBLE. They took out a whole bunch of parking lots to provide 'green space' that looks lovely in photographs, but is a real pain. If you get on campus after eight in the morning, if you don't have assigned parking you can spend an hour looking for a free space.
They've redone the cafeteria. It looks really damned snazzy, now. They also made an arrangement where students can use their IDs in paper machines to get free copies of the New York Times and USA Today. Which is neat, except that now no place actually /sells/ the papers. Bah.
They also put a cafe in the browsing section of the library. A cafe. I can't decide how I feel about that, except...wow. A cafe.
There were thirty students assigned for interviews, broken into three groups of ten. My group was assigned to a group way the hell back in the middle of nowhere. And two people didn't show up, just in my group. I'm reasonably sure I did better than /them/. :D
I don't believe I did too badly. They're going to have to cut eight people out of the applicant pool (ten, really, but the two in my group who didn't show up are pretty much out of the running. I can only hope that other groups had the same thing happen.), and from what I saw, I was clearly the applicant with the least practical experience in the group. On the other hand, I did get a "Good answer!" at least once during one of the interviews. And the seating position I chose ended up being right across from the staff members...for good or bad, they'll probably at least /remember/ me.
The good news that, should I be accepted, I can start as soon as May, and they have many opportunities for assistantships and grants...according to the professor we asked, for the last several years, they've been able to offer one to everyone who has applied. Yay.
Now...I wait.
