Oh, god.

It's only a week and some change before the Halloween party. I have to find body paint. Also, try and get my air conditioner fixed...an eight-hour drive with no air does not look fun, especially since it doesn't seem to be cooling down a whole heck of a lot. Also, SERENITY! THIS WEEKEND! I will see it so very many times. Over and over and over again. Yes. Although now that I've read the comic summary, it makes me sad.

In other news, my arm still hurts. Whine.
So, FEMA subcontracted to a well-connected private company, for disaster transport, to the not-too-shabby tune of 100 Million a year. Said private company, seeing that, finally, there was actually a call on its services with Katrina, surely had plotted and prepared for this, using that money with all the efficiency and vigor of market forces, had developed and maintained a network of competent sources of transport, plans for action, and all that good stuff, right?

Well, not really. Actually, they found a limo company, on the web, during the hurricane. (To be fair, the limo company, stretched way beyond its capability, did scramble to try and get together enough coaches and figure out where they were supposed to go. They failed, but they did try.)
