It's a Monday. It's way too warm for a Monday in December. Blah.

...was one of my first serious attempts at running an online game. It was a play by e-mail in an original setting, using a very simple original system. It was urban fantasy, with (I thought) a fairly interesting premise:

Blue Moon Bay was a small, Midwestern city. No, there was no bay. There used to be a large lake on the site, which kinda disappeared when the city was founded, back in the early 1800s. Blue Moon Bay was a place that you really only thought about if you needed to be there...it drew people, especially people who had magic in their blood, and magical creatures. It was situated over the distilled essence of much of the untamed magic left in the world, guarded by two dragons. The magic radiated through the ground and the air, and sustained those who could not have survived without it. It was a fairly bizarre little place...really intended as light-hearted urban fantasy more than anything else.

I actually had players. It lasted longer than any of the other PBeMs I tried, but eventually died out. Occassionally, I still think about the concept, and what could be done with it, once I cleaned up the mythology and shook the kinks out.

(Okay, so largely I like the idea of the two dragon guardians, monitoring this small sun of magical energy for magicians pulling too hard on it, and delivering 'warnings' that only occassionally ended with the magicians alive...)
