Also, have been trying to come up with something that works well for a /good/ ritual magic system. I'm trying to emulate a very specific sort of feel...an emphasis on summoning and enchantment, rather than immediate, flashy effects, rules that shape an atmosphere, magic that is dangerous, but rewarding, and that feels like...well, valuable and secret arcane lore, gathered at high cost and used with caution and a touch of awe. Unfortunately, many RPG magic systems end up framing magic so that it loses its sense of wonder...it's just effects. You tailor the effect to your needs, and it's essentially as reliable and mundane as technology, just with weird languages and gestures. If that.
