This was a singularly unproductive morning.

So, my practicum appointment was actually for /next/ week, a little fact I forgot until I was sitting in the parking lot outside the school. And the bank wasn't open for me to deposit my checks, and because the bank wasn't open, I couldn't get quarters, had no change to park at the meter on Pendleton, and could not check out the whole thing with getting my background check. So I came back home and went back to sleep.

See, very unproductive.

No, the KKK should not be 'kicked out of the country'. We can't do that. Freedom of Speech and Assembly mean even the speech that's fucking stupid, and even the assemblies of idiots. If we start asking the government to surpress these people, then it's that much easier for someone who believes the same things in just a more eloquent fashion to make a case for surpressing us.

However, the more disturbing comments were the ones that apparently saw no problem comparing the KKK and the NAACP. What. The. Fuck? Last I was aware, the NAACP had approximately zero cross-burnings or lynchings, or any equivalent action thereof, to their name, and comparing the two organizations is entirely inappropriate. It saddens me to think that there are people out there who /really/ don't see the difference (especially the guy who used the 'I have friends who are X, but [incredibly stupid and bigotted statement] fallacy).

Bah.

ETA: Hymen reconstruction surgery. Let's say that again. Hymen. Reconstruction. Surgery. WHY? Okay, if you are from a culture which is quite literally going to kill or disown you for not being a virgin on your wedding night, I could maybe see it. But as cosmetic surgery? What is the point of making sex *more* painful and difficult? Much less getting surgery for something that is going to go away the first time you have sex. Although I find some of the other surgeries pretty silly as well (vaginal beautification? Are you entering contests?), that one just takes the cake.
