Whee! Things have been /happening/ with me. First, of course, I've started my graduate internship here at school, and I'm very much enjoying myself so far. I mean, I've only stabbed myself with a pencil and had to be sent to the health room /once/. So, y'know, we're ahead of the game. Lots of paperwork, though, which makes for a sad, sad Pyrephox.

Also, I have Burning Crusade, and a brand new Draenei character! Whee! He's a mage, for I have not played much with the mages before. He's also a jewelcrafter. I just haven't had a lot of time to play (see the above mention of internships), so he hasn't even hit level 10, yet.

I also got with a group of friends and watched the Dresden Files premiere. I am...eh, as of yet. It has potential. I like the casting, and human!Bob is dead sexy in an evil British sort of way. But I'm not quite sure about the integrity of the Dresdenverse as translated to the screen...they were too wimpy to give him a pentacle, and he didn't actually do any /magic/ (except for one protection ward) in the entire episode. Also, either they've changed the Laws of Magic, or they're planning to play fast and loose with the definitions, and I don't like that it /seems/ that they're setting up the "High Council" (no longer the White Council) as an antagonistic organization rather than the group of well-meaning snobs that it is in the books.

So, I dunno. I will watch for a few more weeks, based on the strength of the casting, and see how it goes.

There is a whole sub-genre of creative works where Boy A meets Free Spirited Girl B, and they have delightful adventures together, form a friendship and/or romance...then the girl dies horribly or tragically, and the boy learns a Life Lesson.

Am I the only one to find this more than a little disturbing?
