My D&D game is going /frightfully/ well. I mean, just wonderful. Possibly the best game I've ever GMed...due in some small part to the fact that I'm actually bothering to plan this one out. Anyway, last week the characters arrived at the dwarven border hold, gave their report to the Lord, were rewarded for their rescue of the guards, and met up with their contact. Their contact teased and tormented them slightly, although he's actually dreadfully bored, and thus more helpful than usual. Also curious about the package that he's not allowed to see. I loved the fact that there was an actual party conflict over whether to break the Church's commandment and it fractured down appropriate party lines, with the Lawful Good Cleric saying hold to the oath, and the Chaotic Good Bard pointing out that nobody ever told them what this thing does, and the contact /might/ know more about it, and it might put him in a better mood when performing the incredibly dangerous ritual. The ever-cautious other player came down on the Cleric's side, so they decided not to, but it was a fun conversation to witness.

Now, of course, the somewhat-disappointed contact has them running a nonsense mission to get reagants he wants. The characters have, however, figured out that he probably doesn't actually NEED them for the spell (true), and just wants to test their capabilities (not exactly true). Sadly, they have not paused to consider what the unbroken eggs of corrupted and ravenous draconic cousins might be used for by someone who they suspect is at /least/ half-dragon.
