So, the con was lovely and fun, as it usually is! I played in a game of Spycraft, which largely rocked, and a Reverse Dungeon game (we ran the monsters, the DM ran the PCs) which entirely rocked, and an Arkham Horror boardgame which, as always, I loved. Got to play quite a few new boardgames, actually, and was happy for it. The only semi bomb was one called "Battlestations", which was a kind of RPG/Space Combat hybrid. You had a space map, but also an onboard ship map, and you ran crew members as characters. The 'shtick' of the game is that in order to make the ship do anything on the space map, you had to have your characters running back and forth to all the different battlestations in order to activate various ship functions. It was a pretty interesting idea, but the game difficulty is rather unforgiving, and the ships computers apparently fritz out and become nearly inoperable with every use, even when doing what should be terribly simple actions. It was somewhat frustrating.
But still! A good weekend overall, and one in which I got very, VERY little sleep...Waldenbooks had a stall in the dealer's room, and brought most of the SF/Fantasy stock...and the new Kim Harrison book was out...and they had the next two books in the Kitty series...so, yeah. After staggering home from the con at eleven or 1 am, I'd stay up nearly until dawn reading those. I am a moron.
But a rather happy moron. Goal for this week: Survive my 13-hour shifts this week (will be working at the high school from 8am-9pm two days this week), start cleaning up around here, and get mailing stuff sent off that REALLY NEEDS to be sent off. Sadly...probably not until the end of the week.
Oh! Special bonus surprise:
