Southern Star Log 12
Logfile from SamingaMU.
[OOC] The Conductor says "We may wish to start with Harris rejoining Amy and Thomas at the Tether."
[OOC] Amy says "Sounds good to Meeee."
[OOC] Harris says "Fools, we'll all die."
[OOC] The Conductor giggles.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Any questions, concerns before we begin?"
[OOC] Thomas says "But to die in service to our Lord and God is what we all dream of! 8)"
The Tether kitchen is a bright and cheerful place to be discussing such dark plans, but it's all they seem to have. Elijah has stepped out into the museum's front again, to help deal with tourists.
[OOC] Amy says "Eh. Death is a temporary thing here. Even if they blast our vessels, we'll be up and about in a year or three. :P"
Amy is sitting at the table, and looks towards Thomas. "Do we need anything else before we start up? We're going to want to do this tonight, I think."
Thomas nods slowly, as if still processing all the information, "As soon as possible, so if we can arrange the resources tonight then tonight it should be."
Harris ducks his head into the room, kocking on the door frame as he passes through. "Hello all -- sorry for the lateness and absentness." He gives a wave. "I, ah, I hope things have been going better than the last time I was around."
Thomas gives Harris a wry look, "If by better you mean our path has been lit, then yes. If you mean is the demon gone and Edwards isn't on the edge of a lynchmobbing, then no."
"But," Amy says, raising her hands up, "By the end of the night, we might be done on the first part, if not the second."
Harris nods slowly. "I see. There's a hairband lyric in that somewhere."
Harris says, "We got a plan for making parts one and two more complete?"
Thomas smirks, "In short, Wright is a 4th Generation Sorcerer. His security guy is a Cabalite and we're planning to go wreck his working area, and hopefully provoke him."
[OOC] Harris says "Cat is drooling on my leg."
[OOC] The Conductor says "It loves you."
Amy nods. "That oughta settle the first part. If we do right there, maybe we can make the second part work out from there. Make it look like Wright was behind it all for the insurance money, rather than ... whatever he IS getting out of it from his Masters."
Harris mutters. "Ker-rist. Yeah, well. I don't suppose he's used that sorcery for wealth. Yeah, so... who's drivin? And how are we gonna convince people about Wright?"
Amy sighs. "I'll drive," she says, "And we're still workin' on that second part."
Elijah enters the kitchen again, just on the heel of Harris' comment. "Y'all can borrow my truck if you need; the one without the license plates. Be careful getting there, but it won't be traced if things get...interesting," he says, with a faint smile.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Alrighty. When do you want to make your assault."
[OOC] Amy looks to the others. "A little while after nightfall? Maybe by the time everyone/anyone ought be asleep?"
[OOC] Thomas says "Sounds like a good plan to me."
[OOC] The Conductor says "So, let's say about midnight?"
[OOC] Amy says "Sounds good."
[OOC] The Conductor hits the fast forward.
It's a crisp, pleasant night, with a half moon shining over the angels' heads, occasionally obscured by wispy clouds. They manage the trek through the woods without a great deal of trouble; a couple of barbed-wire fences, some dark-hidden cow patties, and a few fleeing deer are the worst inconveniences. Soon, they hit the treeline, and see the Wright residence under the moonlight, the wide, clean yard, the barn on the edge of the pastureland, and then the guesthouse off to the side. Most of the lights are off, but for one in the second floor of the main house.
Thomas crouches in the treeline, examining the property carefully for any signs of movement.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 3 5 CHECK: 1.
There does not appear to be any movement on the grounds, aside from the occasional flicker of a firefly, looking for a mate.
Harris cracks his knuckles and nods to the others. "So, ah, either of y'all particularly good at this stealthy approach business?"
Amy shifts the mallet as it sits across her shoulders. "Wish I could say as I was, but..."
Thomas shrugs, "Celestial Shield, but I don't think I'd be able to get it big enough on such a clear night to cover the whole yard."
[OOC] The Conductor says "You can target a particular area if you like."
[OOC] Thomas says "How far are we from the guest house?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "4-500 yards or so?"
[OOC] Thomas says "Could I make that area covered? We want to make a bit of a ruccus when we get to the house anyways. 8)"
[OOC] Thomas says "Or maybe just hold off until we really need it."
[OOC] The Conductor says "You can cover the area in front of the guest house, sure. Or you can hold off."
Thomas looks to the others, "Think we need the extra cover to get to the house?"
Amy looks around. "It's dark, and as long as we stay kinda quiet, I think we'll be okay."
Thomas nods, "Fair enough." He looks around again to double check the yard, "Then shall we get on with this?"
Amy nods to Thomas, and looks to Harris.
Harris shrugs. "I don't stalk people too much, so it makes sense to me. I sorta wish we'd picked up some camo at the army-navy store."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Give me Move Silently checks, then, as y'all cross. Are you trying to go to the front door or around to a side or back window?"
[OOC] Thomas says "I vote side."
[OOC] Amy says "Side window of the guest house, sure."
[OOC] Harris says "Side."
[OOC] Amy says "Move Silently defaults at what, Agility -2?"
[OOC] Harris goes with the crowd.
[OOC] Harris says "It appears to be Agi -1"
[OOC] Amy says "Oh, good."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Yep. But you guys get a +2 because it's daaaark."
[DICE] Amy rolls the d666 and gets 2 3 CHECK: 4.
[DICE] Thomas rolls the d666 and gets 4 1 CHECK: 6.
[OOC] Amy says "Then I'll be damned, I actually succeed!"
[OOC] Thomas says "Woot"
[OOC] Thomas says "Just"
[OOC] The Conductor says "Amy and Thomas both do, it looks like. And with authoritah."
[OOC] Thomas says "I am teh sneaky."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Harris?"
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 1 4 CHECK: 3.
Perhaps the Lord is with the angels tonight, as the clouds scudding across the moon seem to aid them, giving them darkness at all the right times as they move over the short-cropped grass of the yard. Around the edge of the barn, sidling between that and the house. The single light burning in the window shines a little down upon them, but no one seems to stir, and they slide around to the side window of the house without incident.
Amy looks towards Harris, and gestures towards the window.
The window, like the others, is dark. No shutters, but expensive lace curtains block the view to the inside. It looks like this house is old enough that the lock on the inside of the window is one of those little hinge things on the top of the inner pane.
Harris grins at Thomas and Amy briefly and nods up at the window. He lifts his head just enough to peek in the window.
Thomas keeps out of the way, leaning back against the wall and keeping a lookout for any sign of movement or disturbance.
The lace curtains block any view of the inside of the house, for the moment.
Harris pulls out his wallet and removes the ultimate tool -- the credit card. He takes a few breaths and works the card into the pane, aiming for the hook.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Lockpicking roll, if you will!"
[OOC] Amy says "For Agents of Trade, is there ANYTHING a credit card can't accomplish?"
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 5 3 CHECK: 2.
[OOC] Harris says "Noooo"
The old paint, swollen wood, and just the awkwardness of the card conspire against Harris. He only barely managed to touch the tip of the hook.
[OOC] Harris thinks a credit card enchanted with Lockpicking and... Savoir-Faire... would be awesome.
[OOC] Thomas says "Hehe"
[OOC] The Conductor says "It would!"
[OOC] Amy says "First Bank of Bond?"
Harris curses softly and stares at the card for a moment. He whispers, "Just a tad too thick. One of y'all got something a wee thinner." He frowns and takes out his knife and carefully scrapes part of the card away.
Thomas looks over at Harris and whispers, "Sorry, best I've got is a business card, but I doubt that's stiff enough."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Would you like to try and use Essence on your next shot? Or take reverse Risk for +1 to the TN and -1 for the CD?"
[OOC] Harris says "Using essence makes a disturbance?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "Yep."
[OOC] Harris prefers reverse risk :D
[OOC] Harris says "Or just shooting out the lock with my gun..."
[OOC] The Conductor says "That makes Disturbance, too. :D You can try once at reverse risk, but if you fail, you have to find a different way in."
[OOC] Amy says "That causes noise AND Disturbance."
[OOC] Amy says "Hells, if we're going to shoot, we can just use the maul to smash in the window."
[OOC] Thomas says "Might just as well smash the window rather than shoot."
[OOC] Harris hee.
[OOC] Harris says "I will try again with the reverse risk."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Go for it."
[OOC] Thomas afks a moment
Harris finishes shaving his credit card and carefully slides it into the window again.
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 5 6 CHECK: 5.
[OOC] Harris says "Augh"
[OOC] The Conductor says "That's a no."
This time, the credit card catches on the latch, and slips out of Harris' hand, clattering to the inside of the window.
Harris winces and looks at the others. "I don't think this is gonna work."
Amy shakes her head and sighs. "Want to try and look for a back door, or just smash in the window?"
Thomas ponders, "I think we need to get inside before making too much noise. Otherwise we might provoke the wrong kind of attention, namely the Police."
Harris says, "How much harder can the back door be?"
Amy nods to Thomas and Harris. "Let's try that, then." She heads around the side of the building.
The back door is on a small porch, protected by a charming green awning. This window is also clothed by lace, but the lace parts a little in the center, allowing a slice of what appears to be a kitchenette to be seen.
Harris peeks in the window and looks at Amy and Thomas. "You think maybe... it's unlocked." He puts his hand on the door handle and gently tries it.
No such luck. The handle jiggles a little, and that's all.
Thomas follows quietly along behind, "Yanno, something just occurred to me. What if the Infernal is actually staying here instead of the hotel, since we know he's not there."
Harris stops jiggling the handle.
Amy nods to Thomas. "Possible," she says, and then she slowly leans her shoulder to the door and PUSHES, trying to just force it open without breaking it down.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Strength check, Amy."
[DICE] Amy rolls the d666 and gets 5 1 CHECK: 3.
[OOC] Amy says "Got it."
[OOC] Thomas says "That's some strength."
[OOC] Harris shakes a fist.
[OOC] Harris says "Sure, the dice work for HER."
The door resists the push at first, clearly built of good, strong would. But, the angel is strong, and even good wood gets old. There's a creak, a crack, and then a /snap/ as the lock tears out of the frame. A single jangle of Disturbance sings through the air.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Wood, not would."
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 6 5 CHECK: 1.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 4 4 CHECK: 4.
[OOC] Amy watches the dice roll and hopes no one heard that.
[OOC] Thomas says "At least a "disturbance" will attract the kind of attention we want. 8)"
[OOC] Amy says "True!"
The door opens, revealing the way into a small, neat kitchenette. It has a small fridge, a stove top, and a microwave, along with some cabinets.
As the door cracks, Thomas keeps a careful watch out for any corporeal sign that they've been detected, waiting for the others to enter before following behind.
Amy quickly begins moving through, looking for ... things. Anything that looks out of place. Altars. Dead Goats. Secret Doors controlled by a button in a bust.
[OOC] Amy says "Though if there's a red phone here at Stately Wright Manor, she's leaving."
[OOC] The Conductor giggles.
The grounds remain as still as the grave. Inside, the house largely looks...disused. Not dirty; it seems to get regular dusting and such, but there's an emptiness to the air that bespeaks of a place where people do not live or claim for their own. It looks like there are only five rooms, not counting closets. The kitchenette, two bedrooms, one bath, and a large, pleasant living/dining room. None show signs of habitation.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Everyone, a Perception check."
[DICE] Thomas rolls the d666 and gets 2 6 CHECK: 6.
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 4 5 CHECK: 3.
[OOC] Harris sighs.
[OOC] Thomas crosses his fingers.
[DICE] Amy rolls the d666 and gets 1 3 CHECK: 6.
Harris says, "I guess they don't get many guests out here."
[OOC] Amy says "Boo Yah."
[OOC] Thomas says "Nice."
You paged (Thomas, Amy) with 'In the second bedroom, the floor seems to hump strangely over the throw rug.'.
Thomas walks around the house, looking for anything out of the ordinary. He stops in the middle of the room in one of the bedrooms and looks around carefully.
Amy leaves the first bedroom before coming into the second, and she comes up short behind Thomas, pointing down towards the rug.
It's a pleasant, if clearly impersonal little room, with a flowered comfortable, a nice throw rug, and inoffensive prints on the walls.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Comforter, darn it. Not comfortable."
Thomas looks down at the rug he's standing on, then back to Amy and down again. He looks curious for a moment before lifting a foot and tapping on the floor.
There's a sound somewhat different than the rest of the floor, although muffled by the rug. A hollow sound.
Amy nods, and reaches to pull back the rug. "Harris," she hisses. "Get in here."
Thomas smiles hopefully and steps off the rug so Amy can move it out of our way.
Harris just sort of wanders, looking at random things. When Amy hisses in his general direction, he makes his way over to the others. "What've we got?"
As Amy pulls back the rug, a sleek little trapdoor is revealed, with a recessed handle of wood, carved to look much like the flooring.
Amy reaches for the handle to pull it up. "Well, Thomas, looks like you were right..."
"Bingo." Thomas whispers, "Though it could just be a root cellar or something. Only one way to find out."
Harris raises an eyebrow. "This is so... cliche."
Harris says, "It has to be a trap."
Amy smiles at Harris. "If it is, makes our job that much easier, don't it?"
The trap door, it seems, is not locked. It opens on well-oiled hinges, and there are wooden stairs going downwards. It's too dark to see down there, at the moment.
[OOC] Amy stops to consider, "Did any of us bring a flashlight, or have the Song of Light, or something?"
[OOC] Harris has Song of Light.
[OOC] Harris says "Corporeal"
[OOC] Harris says "Rank 1..."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Want to give it a sing?"
[OOC] Harris says "Wow... that's a pretty useless Song."
[OOC] Harris says "4-9 minutes for a range of 1+X yards."
[OOC] The Conductor says "And yet, at this particular moment, it might be pretty useful, if you use it."
[OOC] Harris says "Err, 1 x X yards."
[OOC] Harris says "Eh, I suppose. HHow does disturbance scale with essence?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "1 point per. You can spend a maximum of 3 essence on this song, and it has no DoD, so you'll only have the disturbance from the essence itself."
[OOC] Harris says "Errr, what I mean is, would 3 points be 3 x the range or some weird formula?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "Trust me, you /really/ don't want to try and calculate Disturbance based on the book formula. It will be a small Disturbance."
[OOC] Harris hehe.
[OOC] The Conductor says "In the book, it all depends on the Perception of the hearers, so. :D"
Harris frowns at the darkness. "Well, I can bring us up some Light, but it might give us some extra attention. I cannot believe we never thought to bring a flashlight in the middle of the night."
[OOC] The Conductor did ask, several times, if anyone wanted anything else. :)
[OOC] Harris has fireworks!
[OOC] Thomas says "LOL!"
[OOC] Amy says "There's probably one forgotten in the truck. D'oh."
[OOC] Amy says "For that matter, there may be one in the cabinets here. Any chance of that, GM?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "If you want to search the whole house, you're welcome to do so."
Amy frowns, and nods to Harris. "We want the attention, after all," she says, finally, grimacing.
[OOC] Amy says "Serious loss of Old Grandma-Cred here. Next we'll forget umbrellas in rainstorms."
Thomas looks at the pair, then back down the hole, "The only attention you're going to get is the kind we want."
[OOC] Harris says "Okay, 2-essence SoLight!"
[OOC] Thomas says "And he said, let there be light."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Do you want to sing for additional bonuses?"
[OOC] Harris says "Eh?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "You can sing up to five extra minutes for a +3 to the TN."
[OOC] Harris says "Hee. I think I'll go for that, since I have a feelign that Corp 3, Light 1 is not going to be an easy roll."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Alright. Pose your song and dance, then roll against TN 8. +3 for extra time, +1 for extra Essence."
[OOC] Harris says "We suck :("
[OOC] The Conductor says "TN 8 for a song you have a single level in is not bad. Sheesh."
Harris looks at the others apologetically. "This, uh, may take some time, you know." He starts off quietly humming and then continues with a ssllooww rendition of the Song of Light. About a five minute version, actually.
[OOC] Harris says "No, we suck because we forgot flashlights :)"
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 6 1 CHECK: 6.
The song concludes on a low, hopeful note...and a silver glow, like a pale shadow of the Light of Heaven, flares from Harris' body, throwing the entire room into a clear, somehow comforting, brightness.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 1 1 CHECK: 1.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 3 2 CHECK: 1.
There is no Disturbance from the Song, and an air of peace settles over the house and, possibly, the entire area.
[OOC] Harris says "Someone took a trip on the failboat."
[OOC] Thomas says "Dumptrunk full of fail for them?"
[OOC] Amy says "Well, they'll hear it when we start making Disturbance down there!"
Amy gestures with the maul towards the stairs. "Well, then?"
Thomas nods to Harris and Amy, "Let's go break stuff."
Harris nods and begins making his way down. "I better go first, being the light source and all."
The light seems to spill downward, illuminating a large, finished basement area. There are several shelves, which have a variety of objects. Everything from harmless, empty Mason jars, to what appear to be several shrunken heads. There's an altar at the western edge of the basement; the figurine in the center is long, sinuous, and plated in gold, studded in gems. It's neither demon, angel, nor any Ethereal god you're immediately aware of. There are several cages against the other wall. Most of them are empty, but one holds a large, well-fed parrot, who cocks a sleepy eye at the angels as they descend. The last corner of the basement is a small library, complete with overstuffed leather chairs, a small table, and a minibar.
Thomas follows down after the others, nodding to himself as he looks around the newly discovered space down here. "I repeat. Bingo."
Amy unslings the maul, and moves towards the altar. "Gentlemen," she says with a cheerful smile, "Shall we make a li'l bit of noise?"
Harris shakes his head. "You know, I don't think this is a usual part of southern architecture." He nods at Amy. "Yeah, let's see what we can scare up."
The parrot hisses, hopping on its perch. "Told him so. TOLD him so. Does he listen? Nooooo. Should have been strangled in the womb, that one," it mutters to itself, fluffing up.
Thomas heads for the minibar, cracking it open to see what goodies are contained inside.
Amy looks towards the parrot. "Familiar, huh?"
[OOC] Harris says "Don't you dare break the alcohol..."
Booze! There's a variety of exceptionally good booze in the minibar, along with the mixings of a variety of mixed drinks.
[OOC] Amy says "No! Splash the booze on the books, and then throw a few matches. :)"
[OOC] Harris says "Noooo"
The parrot mantles, managing to look offended. "Hardly, my dear lady."
"Then...?" Amy looks at the parrot expectantly, even as she gets herself set near the altar.
Harris eyes the parrot. "Well, enlighten us, why don't ya?" He pulls out his knife and heads off to the library. "Ya know, on some level it saddens me to do this to books."
The parrot eyes the old woman...or rather, the large weapon the old woman is carrying, and makes a gurgling sound. "Patron. Protector. Guiding Spirit. Brought over the sea, taught all I knew, and one young buck with delusions of grandeur ruins it all." He flutters, looking somewhat resigned. "Locked me in here when I said no, not Hell. Go not down that path, for it only leads to pain. And then the demon. And now you. More demons?"
Thomas has been unloading the minibar, and at the parrots words he coughs, then returns to emptying the minibar.
Amy's eyes narrow. "Parasite," she says, voice harsh. "Essence-leech. Corruptor. Damning generation after generation, sending an entire family to Hell." She brings the hammer up and smashes it down onto the gold altar.
Harris manages to look offended at the parrot. "Hardly. We're from the other side." With that, he begins going through some of the book and cutting them up.
A harsh clang of Disturbance rings out as the gold-plated figurine smashes, and the parrot squawks, flying against the cage with what sounds like a wail of despair. "Fanatic! Uriel-spawn! Deceiver and Murderer of innocents! I damned no one! The spells of Hell were not to be touched, but he said me nay! And now you will murder him for a child's mistake! Bah! Speak not to me of virtue, you and your bloated god are as much parasites as I!"
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 4 2 CHECK: 6.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 6 3 CHECK: 4.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 4 4 CHECK: 5.
[OOC] Amy says "...and now we're up to THREE rolls."
The parrot throws back his head, a curiously melodious croon coming from its cracked beak.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Y'all make Perception rolls, please?"
[DICE] Amy rolls the d666 and gets 6 1 CHECK: 1.
[OOC] Amy says "Nope."
[DICE] Thomas rolls the d666 and gets 2 2 CHECK: 6.
[OOC] Thomas says "Booyah"
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 1 6 CHECK: 2.
[OOC] Amy says "At least one of us will know what's going on!"
You paged Thomas with 'The bird just sung the Song of Celestial Tongues.'.
A small Disturbance rings out from the bird, blending in with the Disturbances from the angels' destruction.
[OOC] Harris says "Ruh roh, raggy"
Thomas stops what he's doing and stares at the Parrot a moment, "Innocents need not die, but your master is playing with things he ought not to be. You admit as much. Him and his demon friend need to be dealt with." Then the bird's song goes off and he perks up, "We're about to have company. He's called his master."
Amy smiles at Thomas. "Oh, GOOD," she says, continuing her destruction of the altar, before moving on to the shelves. Bring 'em all down. Stone can build... and Stone can take a place apart. When she's done, there shan't be two boards left connected anywhere in the room.
Harris continues his cutting and responds to the parrot. "The so-called child's mistake cost many people their lives and ruined countless others." He nods to Thomas. "Well, if we had known it'd be like that, we could have just threatened the parrot from the beginning."
"Damn you all to your own Hell," the bird snarls in return, slamming itself once, twice, into the walls of the cage. The sounds mingle with that of the maul, working its destructive work, and the Disturbance builds with admirable quickness.
Upstairs, there's the sudden sound of a door slamming open, and heavy footsteps reverberating through the basement from above, heading for the stairs. "The door's open!" Wright's voice, sounding angry and panicked all at once.
[OOC] Harris says "At this rate, Elijah's gonna be pissed at us."
[OOC] The Conductor says "It's not /that/ big."
[OOC] Amy says "Well... it IS a goodly distance away."
[OOC] The Conductor says "You guys have hit about 10 points."
[OOC] Thomas should probably cover us up shortly before it does get big. We're about to make a god awful mess.. no pun intended.
[OOC] Amy says "Wait for 'em to get downstairs, then cover it all up."
[OOC] Thomas nods.
There's a hesitation, and then the Calabite flings himself down the stairs, simply diving directly down into the basement and hitting the stone floor in a roll.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Aaaaaand, now we're in initiative."
Thomas turns towards the stairs they came down, his cane in hand and waiting for the people upstairs to come down.
[OOC] Harris says "Hasta la vista, baby."
[OOC] Harris has perhaps an hour, as a warning.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Declare physical or supernatural."
[OOC] Amy says "Supernatural."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Supernatural for the Calabite, Physical for Wright, Supernatural for the parrot."
[OOC] Thomas says "Physical or Supernatural?"
[OOC] Amy says "What your action for the combat turn will be. Smite 'em or Sing it?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "Are you singing or doing something physical?"
[OOC] Thomas says "Ahh.. Supernatural."
[OOC] Harris says "Oh. Physical."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Okay. Supernaturals go first, in order of Perception. Parrot, then Thomas, then Amy, then Calabite, then Harris, then Wright."
[OOC] Harris is slow :(
[OOC] The Conductor says "Harris is doing a physical action."
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 2 3 CHECK: 1.
[OOC] Harris says "That's a very perceptive parrot."
The parrot sings once again, a low, melodious sound. A beam of concentrated light emerges from its chest, and hits the lock of the cage. The scent of scorched metal rises, but the lock holds...for the moment.
[OOC] The Conductor says "It's an ethereal which has had a steady, uninterrupted source of Essence for the last four generation of Wrights. :D"
[OOC] Harris says "I feel there is an Arnold line in here somewhere, but I just can't figure it out."
[OOC] Amy says "It's a 12-Force Death Parrot! FEAR IT!"
Thomas starts a moment at the parrot's attempt to get free before regaining his senses and getting down to the task at hand. He takes a deep breath and sings the Song of Celestial Shield.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Sing, man, sing!"
[OOC] Harris says "Yeah... I may have wanted to invest in those songs..."
[OOC] Thomas says "Add 2 points of essense just to be safe kplsthx."
[OOC] The Conductor grins.
[DICE] Thomas rolls the d666 and gets 6 2 CHECK: 3.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Good thing, too."
[OOC] Thomas nodnod.
Shadows at the edges of Harris' light thicken, try to hide the players of this drama from view, but there's only so much they can do in the light. But the sound of the Disturbance cuts off with a snap.
Amy wraps her hands around the handle of the maul and turns towards the Calabite, voice raised in a clear, even tone as she sings the song of Corporeal Form.
[OOC] Amy says "Spending 4 Essence on it. TN of 9. If successful, lasts CD minutes and gives me Armor of 8."
[DICE] Amy rolls the d666 and gets 6 1 CHECK: 5.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Boom."
Amy's skin thickens and takes on a slightly grayish pallor.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 3 6 CHECK: 6.
As Amy's skin thickens, the Calabite rolls to a defensive crouch. He /stares/ at her, and if looks could kill, this one might have her vessel's death upon it. Sadly, however, it seems to do nothing, and the Calabite pauses, shaking his head in anger and disbelief.
[OOC] Amy says "Why, was that an attack? I think it was."
[OOC] The Conductor says "It was an attempt, which counts even if it wasn't successful."
[OOC] The Conductor says "Harris?"
[OOC] Harris says "Shoot the calabite with the gun in the basement."
[OOC] The Conductor grins. "Roll it."
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 3 1 CHECK: 2.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 3 4 CHECK: 1.
Harris' gun barks, deafeningly loud in the closed space. The Calabite moves with almost supernatural speed, throwing himself to the side...but it's not enough. The bullet catches him high in the shoulder. "Son of a BITCH," you're gonna pay for that," he snarls. Wright comes down, his eyes wide, a gun in his own hand. He swings it to the side, targeting Harris.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 1 3 CHECK: 5.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Roll Dodge, Harris."
[OOC] Harris says "That's the thing about demons, they never expect you to use guns"
[DICE] Harris rolls the d666 and gets 5 4 CHECK: 2.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Take seven damage."
The parrot shrieks, "Run /away/, Reggie! Don't fight them!" And its efforts against the cage redouble, as it sings once more.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Anyone changing their actions from supernatural to physical or vice versa?"
[OOC] Harris says "Not I."
[OOC] Amy says "Yup! Going Physical."
[OOC] Thomas says "Nope."
Thomas pages: Are songs sustained or are they sung then in effect and another song can be sung?
[OOC] The Conductor says "Calabite also going physical; so new order is Parrot, Thomas, Harris, Amy, Calabite, and Wright."
You paged Thomas with 'They last as long as the effect says they last. You've got several minutes on the Shield.'.
Thomas pages: So I can sing another song with no penalty?
You paged Thomas with 'Yep.'.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 3 3 CHECK: 6.
[OOC] Amy says "Woot."
The parrot nearly shrieks this Song, and the blaze of light is much stronger, much hotter. The lock...and indeed the /door/ of the cage explode, and it throws itself out. "REGGIE!"
[OOC] Harris says "Kids, we've got problems."
[OOC] Amy says "Naaaah."
Thomas pages: One last question, the song of corporeal shield, does it prevent the shielded individual from doing physical attacks?
You paged Thomas with 'Yep. Works both ways.'.
[OOC] Amy says "Thomas?"
[OOC] The Conductor says "He's asking questions about rules. :)"
[OOC] Amy says "Ah. K!"
Thomas pages: I lied.. one more. 9) Did we determine that I can select the targets of the song of harmony?
[OOC] Thomas apologizes profusely. 8D
You paged Thomas with 'We did!'.
Thomas pages: Perfect!
[OOC] Harris has sorta little time left, since wife and he are doing some housecleaning.
Thomas grips his cane tighter, then sings the Ethereal Song of Harmony on the Cabalite, the parrot and Wright.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Give it an attempt!"
[OOC] Thomas says "+2 essence again plsthx"
[DICE] Thomas rolls the d666 and gets 5 1 CHECK: 4.
[OOC] The Conductor says "You're down to three Essence, then."
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 5 1 CHECK: 4.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 5 1 CHECK: 4.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 3 3 CHECK: 2.
[OOC] Amy says "Well, if we can finish this combat round, then we break for the night, pick it up next Sunday, and finish the combat (either victory or defeat or something) and denoument, if such is warranted? (I suppose we could lose, flee, and intend to try again...)"
[OOC] Thomas says "That's fine. 8)"
[OOC] The Conductor says "We can pause in the middle of combat as needed. :)"
[OOC] Harris can finish this round.
[OOC] Thomas says "That's about all I can do as well. It's nearing bedtime."
The Sound sounds out, piercing the the air of the basement. Unfortunately, only Wright seems effected, dropping his gun and looking around in bewilderment.
[OOC] Thomas says "Wait.. 6, 6, 6 for the three rolls? *chuckles*"

[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 2 6 CHECK: 5.
[OOC] Harris says "Oh"
[OOC] Amy crosses fingers for a hit, a palpable hit.
Again the gun fires, harsh, the flash flaring brighter than Harris' light. And the Calabite leaps aside, almost, the bullet taking another small chunk out of his upper arm.
[OOC] The Conductor says "Amy, you're up!"
Amy is smiling, slightly, as she crosses the room and swings the maul at the Calabite.
[DICE] Amy rolls the d666 and gets 2 6 CHECK: 4.
[OOC] Amy says "Damn. Just missed. Darn this unwieldy maul!"
[OOC] Thomas says "Swish goes the maul and there goes a piece of furnature."
[OOC] Amy says "Well, we intend to wreck the place ANYWAY..."
The maul /swooshes/ right by, slamming into the floor with a force that cracks the concrete of it. The Calabite grins and tries to punch Amy in the face in return.
[DICE] The Conductor rolls the d666 and gets 2 6 CHECK: 4.
Although the punch connects, Amy doesn't even feel it. The Calabite howls, though, yanking his hand back and bearing his teeth. Reginald Wright just watches this all with a confused, unhappy expression. "Who /are/ you people? Why are you here? I'm going to call the police, you know."
