ARRRRGHH!

What. The. Fuck??

Okay, so I'm trying to do the Calm Lands mission. I've gotten to the Chamber of Fayth four or five times, now, and /every/ time, that damned Aeon cleans my fucking clock. I don't see any way to /beat/ him. He's immune to EVERYTHING, has several bazillion life, and a special attack which takes all my guys down to 1 HP and 1 MP without fail. Even my special dresspheres get clobbered by this guy and his freaky mutant dog every single time. Am I missing something?

ARRRRRGH.

Yojimbo, right? (Delete this now or don't read if you don't want the official guidebook data on him.

The book recommends equipping the entire party with anti-poison items: Star Pendants and Glass Buckles. Don't use magic, since he has several attacks that drain MP completely. Instead, use a strong Gunner, Warrior, Dark Knight, or other fighter-type. Make someone else an Alchemist with plenty of Potions and Hi-Potions; give her a Haste Bangle if available. For your third, you may want to start her as a Thief, because Yojimbo's got 2000 gil and a Power Wrist to steal; later, make the Thief a Gunner, Dark Knight, or Alchemist.

The best way to take him down is to repeat the same actions each round. Have a Gunner use Trigger Happy and a Dark Knight use Darkness; let the Alchemist attack and heal as necessary. The attacks should take over 1000 HP each.

When Yojimbo raises a finger in front of his face, he's going to perform the Zanmato attack, which takes everyone down to 1 HP and 1 MP. Don't have the Alchemist do anything till he uses Zanmato. If she's got a Haste Bangle, she'll automatically be Hasted afterwards; Mix a Potion and a Hi-Potion immediately for a Mega-Potion. If Daigoro, the dog, kills one or more party members, the Alchemist can make a Mega-Phoenix from a Phoenix Down and a Hi-Potion if you don't already have one in stock.

Repeat this strategy as needed, If you can, use a Chocobo Wing to Haste the entire party early on.

The book also mentions that a Star Bracer (constant Reflect effect) is available in Yojimbo's chamber. Yojimbo has 22000 HP, 9999 MP, and offers 2000 XP and 15 AP.

That guy cleaned my clock the first time too. I don't really remember much about him, other than it took me forever. Longest battle until I got to Angra Mainyu (woo, two hours of sheer battleness!)

So here's what I did. I made Rikku an Alchemist. Make sure she's got Stash >> Mega-Potion. Go back and get this sphere, I think it's the best one in the game. All you have to do is clear out Clasko's chocobo ranch place (where the monster arena was in FFX, still in the Calm Lands). Before Yojimbo does his one attack thing, he'll put his fingers up close to his face. When he does this, have the Alchemist mix a Hi-Potion and an ordinary Potion.

I think you may be screwed getting Dark Knight. You had to solve a puzzle in the Bevelle section before fighting Bahamut. I don't know if you can still get there, but go ahead and try (the puzzle itself is in the room with the three lifts).

So once you have those, make sure someone's using Stash >> Mega-Potion every turn, and the Dark Knight is using Darkness. The other person can be just about anything... the damage she does is so infintisimal she's basically just there for healing support.
