Good Idea: Releasing the 1.10 patch for Diablo 2, even if only in an unsupported, single-player beta version.

Bad Idea: Doing so on the eve of my three-day committment to run Stuff for Brass and Steel. Grrr.

In other news, I think it'd be really amusing to see a coroner's report where the cause of death was listed as "Butterflies". Possibly adamantium-winged butterflies with mutant death rays. Or maybe just stepping on a bunch of them at the wrong time and falling down stairs. I'm not picky.

You play? Great. I tend to play a modded version of the game, but right now I'll be playing with the beta patch. My current project is a MA assassin, level 11, so if you come across anything that might be useful for her, lemme know. I'll keep an eye out on whatever for you in turn. :)

*growls unhappily*

I can't get the patch to install. Everytime I try, the pre-loader fails with an 'unable to verify archive' message. It sucks, in the most mighty Spaceballs Robot Maid sort of way.

Well, suppose I should go through the gamut of tech support gibberish.

Comp specs? OS? Got 1.09d (or c, whatever) installed? Tried downloading again (Possibly a corrupt d/l)? Mac (Won't work on these!)?

*hugs*

Unfortunately, I believe I know the cause of the pre-loader's distress. I'm rather sure that it's attempting to access the CD from my drive, which wasn't in there, because I have a no-CD crack. My attempts to find my LoD CD have uncovered that I seem to have left it with a friend of mine on my recent trip, and it's probably buried in /his/ CDs. In Texas.

*sigh*
