Constantine is fun. It is constantly hampered by the complete inability, at least for me, to accept Keanu Reeves as a bad sumbitch, but it's still fun. It's also awfully In Nomineish. To the point that I was very easily putting people into character types. :D Dark, Low-Contrast In Nomine, but In Nomine.

I'd argue that the contrast was at least medium.

I'd put it at low. The only real angelic influences we had were *spoiler* and the ones cheerfully turning water to wine and sucking face with demons in neutral territory. Barring other, more positive, influences, I'm prepared to believe Constantine's 'they're both hypocritical assholes' theory, despite the DIs at the very end of the film.

The reason why I put it at medium is the angel in the liquor shop.

Eh. I don't think low contrast means that the angels don't do good things or that the demons don't do bad. He gave the guy a moment of comfort, which is probably the absolute least anyone, especially an angel, should do under the circumstances.

I didn't see it as giving him a moment of comfort, so much as standing in guard to ensure that his soul couldn't get dragged down to Hell. Between that, and the interventions at the finale, I saw it as at least nudging into Medium contrast - at least, between Heaven and Hell. Between most of the agents on the ground, though - yeah, not so much.
