For Soldiers of God who stick around and earn enough trust to get in-depth briefings about the situation in Hell, one question usually comes up: if Lucifer hates humanity so much, why is there a human Princess? If the angels love humanity so much, why is there no human Archangel?
The angels have a variety of answers for this, as the situation has been debated in Heaven, as well. The Archangels, mostly, say that such a thing is against humanity's place in the Symphony. If the price for Superiorhood is to be forever cut off from the Higher Heavens, as Lilith may be, then how could they do that to a human? How could they take away so much of their free will in exchange for a little power, especially when angels are willing to fight the War for them? Other, more philosophical, angels suggest that Freedom is the only Word that a human could possibly have, and that raising a living human or blessed soul to such a position would torment its soul with Word-friction. Yves notably has never said it cannot be done; when asks, he simply says that the side-effects of such an event would be unpredictable and possibly severe.
He should know.
When Lucifer tempted Belial, it was not with lies. He could not tempt with lies. He could only tempt with the Truth, the truth that had been carefully obscured, rewritten, and otherwise softened for the rest of Heaven. The truth that his Light alone could shine through.
The Truth that all prophets are human. /All/.
It was when Belial, disbelieving, followed his Archangel to a private place, and spied as the carefully spun fires around Gabriel's fires dispersed, revealing all-too-mortal flesh, that the dark flames of avarice and jealously took hold in his heart. It was when proud Baal heard from his Seraph brother that God, Yves, and the Metatron had hidden a human Superior in the angels' midst that he first believed that God truly /did/ plan to replace angels in his highest regards. In a way, it was Gabriel's secret that triggered the Fall.
...and both he and Yves knew it would, all along.
He /is/ a prophet, after all.
