A-maze-ing.
Out of nowhere, a friend from high school e-mails me this morning. One of my old gaming group, and definitely one of my better friend. However, I am not at all surprised that they only thought to do so after yet another of their relationships ended badly. I'm enthusiastic to see them, certainly, but I hope this doesn't end like the other times...they cry on my shoulder, I listen sympathetically, we do some things, start having fun, they find another relationship, and forget I exist until the next time they're heartbroken.
Ah, well. We'll see what happens.

Once again, I do understand where you're coming from. I used to be the dependable friend that took care of everyone and listened to everyone else's exciting lives, while having myself an insanely boring one tagging along after my friends.
Then I got excitement. Oh the excitement!
Now boring seems much more fun, usually.
(And when it's not, I throw parties. ;) )

I suspect that were my life to become exciting, I wouldn't know what to do with it, anyway.
