And it's not a bad one, so far. I've got my practicum internship turned in, and a tentative appointment for my first Independent Study meeting. Which, as it happens, I may have to reschedule, because there's training at 10 that I didn't know about, tomorrow. WHEE. I'm reasonably productive, although I've still got to schedule two of my six schools for visitation. Friday had better be okay with them, or else I'll have to make two trips, which does not make me a Happy Amber.

Other than that, I've started playing Morrowind again. I've only downloaded one mod, though...the big archive of mods that I found have all of them requiring a fileplanet subscription to download, and That's Just Silly. I'll have to peer around for a few more.

Now, anyone who has read my journal knows my opinion on 'intelligent design', but I'll summarize for any newcomers: it's a transparent political fraud, not science in any shape, form, or fashion. It has no scientific validity, attempts to have no scientific validity, and is a transparent attempt to foist a narrow religious viewpoint as the law of the land (at least in the schoolroom).

However, I've been following this story with interest. And, I'll say: they should have kept the class. Of course, I don't know all the details of the case...if this 'elective' was accepted as science credit, for example, that would be bad. But if it was what it is claimed to be, an elective in philosophy about intelligent design, and is not represented as science, or required (explicitly or implicitly) for students, then it should not have been pulled. The exploration of different, even bizarre, worldviews is not a bad thing, even when taught by such a clearly biased teacher as the one who was teaching this class. If kids want to take a philosophy class in addition to science, that's not a bad thing, and hopefully it will give them an excellent example of a fraud when they're exposed to one.
