My doppleganger...

...is somewhere on campus. It's not the first time I've heard of this mysterious person. Several times over the years, people have thought they've known me, when they definitely haven't. People have said, "You know, I've seen someone around who looks just like you!" and have even had quick conversations with me as this other person, and left before I could tell them that I don't know who they're talking about. And today, apparently I went through the same lunch line as my doppleganger, about a half-hour behind her. The lunch lady 'recognized' me, and was going to give me my drink 'refill' for free, before I explained to her that I hadn't been in the cafeteria for a few weeks. Apparently, my doppleganger even has the same style of glasses as me.

I WANT TO MEET THIS PERSON.

I'm also really kinda hoping she's the /evil/ twin...

[D&D] Feats and Fighters

Brought up by a thread on RPG.net.

Looking over the standard lists of feats and epic feats, it occurs to me...fighters really do get screwed as far as Nifty Abilities in feats go. Which, since getting lots and lots of feats is one of the main benefits of fighters, is rather disappointing. Moreover, the feats that fighters do get are, generally speaking, underpowered compared to the feats that other classes get. And some things that should be general feats for fighters, are instead Epic Feats, while there are very few OMGWOW! Epic Feats for straight fighters, the way there are for all the other classes. Take, for example, the Epic Feat "Spellcasting Harrier". Prereq: Combat Reflexes. Benefit: Any spellcaster you threaten in melee provokes an attack of opportunity if he or she tries to cast defensively. You get a +4 bonus on this attack roll.

Why is this an Epic Feat, only available to 20th level or above characters? This is one of the things fighters are supposed to be /good/ at, interrupting spellcasters before they can finish waving their hands around! This should have a BAB requirement of +5 or so, and be a general feat.

Compare this with the Barbarian Epic feat of Thundering Rage, which has the benefity of: Any weapon you wield while in a rage is treated as a thundering weapon. The DC of the Fortitude save to resist deafness is equal to 10 + ½ your level. This ability does not stack with similar abilities. See? That has COOL points. That /feels/ like something that should be Epic, even if the deafness is resisted.

Pure Fighters really seem to get sort of screwed in the Cool stakes. I'm sure there are supplimental books that help this, but I wish that it'd be added into the core rules. Also, I'm probably going to work on some Feat trees for good, old-fashioned melee-and-shield fighters.

Defensive Fighter Feats

Here's a bunch of rough-draft feats for fighters (although none are definitively fighter-specific), oriented around defensive abilities. The first cascade deals with armor, and making it easier for fighters to use, and the second with defensive fighting with swords. Comments appreciated!
