Oh, wow.

That research paper is due /tomorrow/ and not next Monday like I thought. Huh.

Also! Do you ever notice that you spell a word consistently wrong, and end up liking your spelling far more than the real one?

Oh dear. I hope it's a research paper you've already done some work on? (...she says, remembering all the papers she started three days before they were due back in college...)

Oh, I'm almost done, now. :D

(God, I love online databases. Type a few words in, get the full text of a dozen articles on your topic, read, write! All from the comfort of your home!)

The idea of having to look up all these articles by hand would frighten me beyond all imagination, really. Stacks of little academic journals, and no end in sight. I cuddle my university proxy server, ohyes.

I actually had to go digging through the stacks for my summer research paper and my honors paper, because both were on subjects that aren't popular enough to have much done recently on them. (Shakespeare's Cymbeline and W.H. Auden's For the Time Being, respectively.) And I do recall the nice librarians helping me with the Giant Doom Books that indexed all those journals of scholarly articles, and how little use any of it was... Owie. Online is so much more comfortable.

Yeah.

Luckily, many journals are now putting even their back issues on .pdfs online. I've got about ten years of the Journal of Counseling and Development in a folder on my desktop. Just open and browse whenever I like. :D

I remember the days before the internet :P man it would have made my life much easier at school

I kinda liked the digging in the library, the clearing of shelves of monographs that could possibly be remotely related, the obscene library fees...

call in sick to work to finish the paper. i'm ditching class tomorrow to take my EDRM takehome midterm.

and yes on the words. i like British spellings much better. i can't even remember which is the american version of grey/gray?

Oh, I'm done. :) Once I sit down and /do/ a paper, I write really fast. Which only aggravates the procrastination problem, really.
