My nose is terribly stuffy and unhappy.

I stayed up late to finish "Proven Guilty", the newest Dresden novel. It is very much love! If you're a fan of the series, this is definitely not disappoint, and it's great to see some of the older supporting characters back again. It also really makes me yearn for a Dresden RPG game, because we're finally starting to get a good indication of how all the different supernatural groups interact with each other in the setting. It's complicated but Cool.

Also, it's Friday. YAY FOR FRIDAY.

I am sitting at my very quiet office. About 99% of Louisville is at the track, the off-track betting, or a bar watching it on TV. Gods bless the horsies and their mindless running.

It means I got to (1) catch up a bit, and (2) learn exciting new stuff that the associate attorney finally had time to teach me.

Is the Derby today? I thought it was on Saturday!

The Derby is Saturday. Friday is the Oaks, which is "Louisville's Day At The Downs" -- traditionally, it's the day when the natives get to go have THEIR fancy horse race and dress up, and then tomorrow the tourists all go to the Derby.

Of course, that's changed in recent years, but c'est la vie.

You were correct! Today is Kentucky Oaks, the day before, and it's considered Louisville's race. The Derby is for tourists - Louisvillians go to the Oaks.
