Some time ago, South Dakota passed a law prohibiting abortion. In defiance, the tribal president of one of the local reservations, Cecelia Fire Thunder, declared that if South Dakota wouldn't provide those services, the reservation would.

She has now been suspended from her position, and abortion services have been prohibted.
