And it was quite good. Unfortunately, we had a sucky audience, which detracted from the experience somewhat. Ah, well. It was still good (but very, very, VERY bleak).

Also, as not-really-a-spoiler-but-maybe-a-hint-of-things-to-come: the main character is an artist who does, I quote, "Movie posters, that sort of thing," and at the beginning, he is working on a painting of a lean, leather-clad man with two guns, with a tower in the background and a red, red rose curling to the side.

May mean nothing.

Haha, one of the movie posters was for "The Thing" too :)

And yeah, bleak's a good word. Wasn't that crazy about the bleakitude towards the end, but the critters were right out of Lovecraft.

The ending bleakitude could have been a little less heavy-handed. And it /desperately/ needed different music. I normally like Dead Can Dance, but it wasn't the right choice for that scene. Broke the tension and went on far too long.

Given how utterly hopeless the ending of the short story it comes from was, I am not surprised to hear the movie ends on the same note. It sounds like it's very good, and exactly the sort of thing I wouldn't want to see.

On a somewhat related note, do you by any chance have the HoaS logs sitting around somewhere? I'd be happy to stuff 'em together into one giant log and put 'em up as HTML/text/PDF/whatever for you; they're such a marvelous reference for a set-length campaign. Or links to the LJ logs, if that's handier.

The ending of the short story wasn't entirely hopeless, though. They drive off, and there's a bit that gives some hope of goodness.

Check my memories? I've compiled them once already.

Really? I recalled the short story ending in completely bleak lack of hope--as they drive off into the mist, it's never letting up, and one by one all of the radio stations have turned to static, so there's no one even broadcasting anymore... But it has been a while, so I may have missed some hint of hope.

And, shall do. Thanks.
