The Age of the Mecha May be Dawning
Wheeeee, robotic suits! Also, it's Friday, and this is nothing but wonderful. I am looking forward to the weekend. It's even kind of a short day today, because we have Yearbook Field Day for fourth period. So, rar.
What are your plans for the weekend?

Of course, at some point it becomes warbots and then the AIs rise up and destroy us.
(Which is why I'm opposed to AI's!)
But until THEN... yay! Battlesuits!

Also mmmmm, battle suits. Or those walker things from Alien and the Matrix. Those pretty much kicked butt. And, hey, cybernetic implants, at some point! The smaller the power pack becomes, the better.
(Although, I admit that when he said that the suit had to remained hooked up to power cords because the battery only operated for 30 minutes, I immediately thought about Evangelions.)

Walkers would be cool -- and it's worth noting some of the primary uses they're planning on putting these to are first as heavy lifters and such. THEN it's on to weapons hardpoints. There's a great article in this month's Pop Sci with pictures. Oooh, pictures.

Yeah. And I do think that this sort of thing would be great for construction and logistics. Imagine being able to load entire pallets of material at once, with almost human dexterity, and no forklifts.

Absolutely. My guys in the warehouse would LOVE these things!

And imagine the volleyball games!
He spikes! ...game is now paused while we dig what's left of the ball out of the concrete.

Otherwise I'll just be out there with a sledgehammer.

As for my weekend, there will be stuff tonight of unknown happenings, tomorrow will be spent with my brothers, and Sunday will be meeting my girlfriend's mother (eek!). My free time is all planned out.

Sounds like a fun weekend, and good luck with the girlfriend's family. That's the First Barrier. :D
