Hey all,

I'm interested in running a kind of loose, pick-up type game of Changeling the Lost (with a hefty helping of WoD, which means that mortals would be acceptable characters), set in NYC. How many people would be interested in making characters for it? Note: I'm trying to keep this kind of loose and easy on the committment scale, so that people don't have to block off yet another four-six hour chunk of their week on a regular basis, and will /encourage/ people both doing side RP between characters, and even running mini-adventures for other characters, if continuity allows. Each player could have up to two characters, although one should be designated as the 'main'. There will be an ongoing chronicle and campaign, but the nWoD setting is very forgiving of side adventure and Weird Stuff.

Things to start with:

NYC is a place governed by the Seasonal Courts (not using the other Courts from Winter Masques, in other words), but the Lost of New York who originally established their presence did so in during the Revolutionary War, and being passionate sorts, rejected the idea of the monarchy, even a rotating one. Thus, NYC's Lost are governed by the Seasonal Council. Every Season has 4 representatives, and one of those representatives becomes the Chairman for the respective Season. The Chairman has the power to convene (or not convene), meetings of the Council, and to set the length of debate (within reason: a 2/3rds quorum can override and bring an issue to a vote immediately), but cannot unilaterally make decisions. Instead of the Seasonal Crown, a Gavel manifests for the Chairman.

NYC has a sizable Vampire population; several different groups vie for power in the city; Changelings tend to fly beneath the radar of the supernatural realm, but about forty years ago, the Lost and the bloodsuckers had a small, covert, but very intense war, led by Summer Courtier Susan Drake. After Drake's death, Autumn and Winter withdrew from the conflict, and things sort of just died down; it's almost certain that the undying have not forgotten, though.

The Midnight Flame is a group of mortals who are allied with the Courts of the Lost for various reasons; the most common reason is those who have discovered that their beloved child, spouse, or sibling is, in fact, a souless simulacrum created by the True Fae to cover up their theft. They band together with the Lost in the hope that their own casualties will one day reappear. Some, of course, have less noble reasons: those addicted to the idea of the Fae (but not quite stupid enough to seek out the real thing), seekers, mercenaries, and even a couple of people who have been 'drafted' because they became too embroiled in Lost affairs to be allowed to leave. Most are ensorcelled at least part of the year; some are not.

In the last year, prominent spirits of NYC who had struck pledges with Changelings have disappeared or been banished. So far, there's been no rhyme or reason to which have been targetted: the spirit of Broadway was destroyed/disappeared right before a minor spirit of despair in a slum neighborhood frequented by Winter. The toll so far is five that have been documented, but who knows how many spirits who have /not/ been in compacts with an aware Lost have been removed?

Tentatively in! (I have Issues with nWod in general and nChangeling in particular, but ever since I read the core book nChangeling's been gnawing on my brain anyway, so . . . [laughs])

One question: are you open to using any of the stuff from the other Changeling books besides the alternate Courts? (Like the alternate Kiths, Contracts, etc.) I'm still interested either way, I just want to make sure. :-)

Yay! Now, to see if I can actually pin down some of my concepts, heh.

You are welcome to play! You wouldn't be the only newcomer to the system, and I can certainly help with chargen and such. I *cough* may be able to let you borrow certain system materials that you do not currently have.
