Because this game is delightful.

So, I saved Yukiko from her own sense of identity foreclosure, and added her to my team of teenage superheroes.

All of your team mates have their own Social Links now, plus your investigative team itself has the Fool link (which makes sense, speaking of Tarot symbolism). I managed to save Yukiko fairly early, so I got a good three weeks of other stuff in before the rain set in again. One of which was Golden Week. Yay for a week off of school! I also discovered a very cool thing about Persona 4: you can have /group/ outings. And yes, it helps increase all of your Social Links in the group. But your friends actually hang out together now, rather than it being like you're sneaking around, hoarding that SL goodness for yourself. Also, the interactions between the groups are hilarious...at one point, you're offered the option to invite your niece along (which is a good idea, because she is desperately lonely), and the interactions between your teenage friends and the Adorable Little Girl are both entertaining and genuine. Even with the one who doesn't like girls (even cute little girls).

Another improvement: your opinion is solicited more, and it seems to have more impact. You can occasionally raise your stats by giving the right answer at the right time...some responses, though, require a certain amount of a stat (usually Expression or Courage) before you can choose that response. (My favorite; trying to flirt with a hard-to-get girl, and getting, 'You only wish you had enough Courage to say that', to an attempt to be all white knightish.)

Side note: The SLs with the Dojimas are adorable. Nanako is all that is cute in this world, and Detective Dojima is...well, your first social link conversation is his attempt at small talk: awkwardly pointing out that the murders only started once you arrived, and that you've been in some fairly odd places, almost as if you're interfering in his investigation. It's just so...painfully concerned (in a Manly way) that it's hilarious. As is the way he treats his partner (i.e. rookie slave detective).

If something bad happens to the Dojimas, I will be wroth.

Now, I'm investigating the Bathhouse of Manly Love (no.../really/. You can probably guess what the current victim is suppressing within himself) to try and rescue the newest kidnap victim. Yosuke is...somewhat discombobulated by the setting, to which I say: "Oh, please. You do NOT get to talk, considering that you never miss an opportunity to comment on how good the main character is with his hands." Juggling Social Links on top of this is, as always, a tricky thing, but at the same time this game seems to help you take care of it a little more. One concern; no longer can you agree to like five proposals at lunchtime, then pick the one you want after school. If you promise to show up somewhere, you show up at that place.

Oh! Other things: Occasionally, you'll get the opportunity to make lunch. Then you can invite one of your SLs to eat with you at lunch; if you cooked it well, their opinion of you will go up. That's pretty cool! I always eat with Chie; her appreciation of good food is just endearing. You can also do a night-time job, or read books. Or go fishing. There are a /lot/ of things to do in this game. I don't see how you can ever have time enough for them all.

How on earth you make the game mechanics sound interesting is totally beyond me.

It's not hard to do, because they /are/ interesting. The SL mechanics are implemented in a way that's really impressive. And I say that having not had any major problems with the P3 SLs...the improvements are amazing.
