ARRRRGHH!

What. The. Fuck??

Okay, so I'm trying to do the Calm Lands mission. I've gotten to the Chamber of Fayth four or five times, now, and /every/ time, that damned Aeon cleans my fucking clock. I don't see any way to /beat/ him. He's immune to EVERYTHING, has several bazillion life, and a special attack which takes all my guys down to 1 HP and 1 MP without fail. Even my special dresspheres get clobbered by this guy and his freaky mutant dog every single time. Am I missing something?

ARRRRRGH.

Alchemist should've been in Chapter Two, apparently during a scene with Clasko. (Fighting Blue Elementals in the Calm Lands.) Dark Knight, likewise in Chapter Two, just before Baralai and Bahamut.

If he's not immune, Darkness is always good! If you've got anything to inflict Slow, that's likely as helpful as Hasting party members, in my FFX experience. Hmm... Poison, if he's not immune; Regen or Regen-granting abilities on the party, if possible at this stage? HP +% would likely help, too, if available, or any SOS [something] abilities if they're available in X-2 as well as X. [grins]

[snugs] I knew there was a reason I bought the guidebook. ^^ Luck!

Argh! *weeps* I pretty much ignored the Calm Lands in Chapter 2...minigames aren't really my thing, and that's all I saw, there. And I have no idea how I missed Dark Knight. Grargh. Oh, well. Something to get the next time through. :D

There's SOS items, and some garment grids give those abilities, too. I'll have to fiddle around, and see what I can manage. :)

Awwwww. [patpats]

[nods] It looks like the Alchemist grid comes after beating a minigame-ish thing. Dark Knight, I think, is just lying around...

[grins, nods] 'Cause at least Zanmato will auto-trigger any SOS thing.

[considers] What dress-spheres do you have access to?

I hate Zanmato. I know I've said it before, but I needed to say it again. :p

I have Warrior, Berserker, Gun Mage, Songstress, Black Mage, White Mage, Gun Mage, Trainer, Gunner, Thief, Floral Fallial (that's not spelled correctly, I'm pretty sure), and Machina Maw.

Rikku is generally Thief, Paine has maxed out Warrior, and is working on Berserker (but has the garment grid which also gives her access to all her swordplay abilities), and Yuna is usually Gunner, with the occassional switch over to Floral when I feel the need to crush something utterly. That is one SCARY dressphere, and most of its abilities don't require MP.

[giggles!] [patpats]

Hmmmmm. I'd suggest getting a Gun Mage or GunnerYuna powered up, for access to the best Trigger Happy you can get. Paine's Warrior-Berserker combo sounds like the best option in lieu of a Dark Knight. Maybe start Rikku on the White Mage sphere (while she has the MP to handle it), stock up on the Healing/Revival and/or Haste/Slow items and abilities, and have her be your speedmonkey in lieu of the Alchemist? And keep Yuna healed up the most, because if you lose the others and Trigger Happy's not cutting it, you can haul out Floral Fallal and keep your three-possible-turns ability?

Hmmm. Good ideas! I think I might try that. Machina Maw is, I'm sad to say, fairly useless against him, because all of its niftykeen things require MP, so, yeah...hmm. I wonder if I can keep Paine using Delay Buster, too...maybe put off that first, crushing uberattack as long as possible? *bounces* Now I'm eager to play, again!

[grins!] [crosses fingers...] Luck!

Delay Buster GOOD. I say this as someone who's won boss fights in FFX where the boss got maybe two actions in to my party's twenty to fifty. [grins] Haste the party and Slow the boss == GOOD.

[giggles] Yay!

(If you want me to look up stuff in the future, too, feel free to ask. [grins])
