Picture!

Okay, I got a camera and took a picture, while trying it out. So, here ya go, if you're interested.

Me

I have a very messy room, with not enough book shelves, which is why those books are in horrible disarray behind me. Although, to be scarily honest, my room is a lot cleaner now than it was, say, a few months ago.

And I should have smiled.

Pretty! But very solemn.

Thank you! I, uh, hate cameras. When I see one, a scowl is my default expression, and when I smile, it usually looks like I'm baring my teeth. So I often get to choose between solemn and homicidal. ;)

Smile with your lips closed. [nodnods] My default expression is kind of "...", but since I was little I've defined 'smile' as 'lips closed' and 'grin' as 'teeth showing', so whenever I 'smile for the camera', it's lips closed. ^^ And, well, it usually doesn't look bad at all, so... ^^

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! I like closed-lip smiles. They actually look friendly. When people get those wide grins on their faces, they kind of look like they're about to bite people.

Re:

[identity profile] sariel-di.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[snrk!] [nodnods] I mean, they're fine on some people, and they're no problem when small, but... Way too few people do closed-lips smiles, IMO. ^^

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Some people grin like sharks. Some people don't. I'm one of those people who grins as if she's eyeing your jugular, so I try to stick to closed-mouth smiles as well. And I had braces when I was younger; I think a great many people who had braces as kids are more fond of the closed mouth smile.

Re:

[identity profile] sariel-di.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Heeeeeee. [snickers, nods]

I just don't like the way I look when I grin, myself. Of course, my default expression is a "..."-sorta one... >.> So it's easier to go from that to closed-mouth smiling.

(Who said frowning took effort? Apparently I frown when I'm not actively trying not to, according to Mom. [snickers])

Me, too! I always get someone saying, "You look upset! What's wrong?" when I'm in a perfectly happy mood, just not concentrating on /looking/ happy, if that makes any sense.

This clearly means that we were meant to rule the world, for we already have our Serious Expressions well trained and ready to go.

Re:

[identity profile] sariel-di.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
[nodnods!] I understand entirely. It takes effort to smile all the time, especially if your default expression is "..."-ish... [grins, wry] (I mean, I know people who're the exact opposite - always smiling, and look SCARY when they aren't, because if something could make that person be less than happy... Well, yeah. ^^ But!)

[laughs!] Yes! ^^

I always get someone saying, "You look upset! What's wrong?" when I'm in a perfectly happy mood ...

and now you are suddenly upset even though you weren't before? Yup been getting that for years.

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. In my case, it tends to go that someone asks me what's wrong, and nothing is, so I say that, they don't believe it, keep pestering me, and I end up /wanting/ to say, "Yes, something's wrong. You're getting on my nerves!" But usually don't. :/

[giggles]

Mm, smiles. I have about 20 different smiles, and they range from tiny little closed lips ones, Elosmiles, even, to scary fang-baring ones. And the best part? I can morph 'em. >) I can start with the Elosmile and end with the "Wow, I like your throat. Bend it a little so I can rip it out better, will you?" one. Scares the wits out of people. ^_^

::fears, as [livejournal.com profile] pyrephox suggested.::

That is a very pretty shirt! And Sabriel is sitting on my shelf too :D

::loves pictures.::

*cackles evilly*

Thanks! It is the top that I did not need but was too cute to resist. And Sabriel rocks. Did you read Liriel, the sequel, too? I love that world.

Re:

[identity profile] maladaptive.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I never trudged through Sabriel... I haven't picked it up in a long time, oddly. I shall have to redouble my efforts.

I think it's a lovely book. But then, I'm a sucker for the collision of magic and technology stories. :)

[identity profile] wavemaker.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Horrible disarray? Hahahah. I'd call them stacked neatly, by my standards.

I don't consider books in horrible disarray unless they're on the floor..

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I have some stacked on the floor, on tables, dressers, desks and the like, too. I really need larger bookcases. As soon as I get a room with standard wall-heights and some money, I'm going to buy a couple floor-to-ceiling bookcases, and hopefully be able to have all my books properly displayed!

Woo picture! :D *hugs* Cor, your hair's grown since this summer!

Re. smiling, we'd probably get lovely smiling piccies of you if someone could just photograph you while you were minding your own business, and suspecting nothing! That's how good smilypics of me come into being. Pure chance.

(Or when my colleague with the digital camera orders all employees here up against the wall, and takes a crapload of pics... >_> That's how my photo-icons happened.)

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed it has! It grows pretty fast. Still can't do anything with it, though...my hair resists all attempts at style.

*giggles* Shhh, you'll encourage people to come after me with cameras of evilness!

Your photo-icons are cute!

[identity profile] cpip.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Your hair has grown quite a bit -- and it looks very good on you...

And that is a nifty looking shirt. :)

...and my place is a disaster area top-to-bottom. I ought to borrow Jen's digicam and show the devastation. Maybe we can apply for federal disaster relief funding? ;)

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :)

A disaster area stretching from your place to mine? Or maybe we can do the singularity thing, and claim that our places exist in the same place? I say we go for it!

[identity profile] aerlorn.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
So I finally have a face with the name. I must say I love the shirt but with your expression it feels like I'm in a staring contest with you. Heh. I do understand about the non-smiling. Most of the pictures about me are that way. The ones where I actually am smiling are usually close mouthed and I look like I'm about to break out into a maniacal laugh. Oh well.

Re:

[identity profile] pyrephox.livejournal.com 2004-02-16 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You /are/ having a starting contest with me! I'm /watching/ you...oh yes...
