...to bore myself to sleep, I finally went and wrote up an idea that had been floating around my head for quite some time. It's a new minor Archangel for In Nomine, so for those who aren't fans of the system, I've shielded you with a lj cut! (Keep in mind that this was written at five in the morning, and thus may not be at all coherent.)

Edit: Apparently, I forgot that Mercurians were a Choir. Duh. Added Merc Choir attunement.

Sophia
Kyriotate Archangel of Harmony

The world is a grand Symphony, but it is only sustained by individual notes, sounding together by choice to make a greater whole.

Sophia began life before the Fall, as a Kyriotate of Stone. When David made his change to Malakite, she found that her philosophies became more and more difficult to uphold, and she was released to the service of Novalis. Under the wings of Flowers, she thrived. She devoted herself to working with humans to allow them to build their cities and homes in ways that incorporated the environment, rather than usurping it. It was for this work that she was sponsored for the Word of Harmony, but once she gained it, she found that it was a concept that demanded expansion. Her Kyriotate nature meant that she could embrace all the multi-faceted aspects of harmonious living, from the literal to the emotional and the conceptual. It also meant that, as time went on, she ended up being drawn into more and more direct conflict with the followers of Malphas, whose activities were an assault on her very Word. She could not allow them to defile her portion of the Symphony, but neither could she, as a Flowerchild, smite them with authority. Finally, with a heavy heart, she went to Novalis, and asked to be transferred to another Word.

Novalis, however, had other ideas. She went to the Seraphim Council, and sponsored the rather bewildered Kyriotate for elevation to Superiorhood, albeit as a minor Archangel. As several other Superiors, including David and Yves, had been watching Sophia's progress, the ascension went through after only a decade of debate. On Earth, the nineteenth century was just starting. Despite her initial worries, the young Archangel is doing rather well for herself. She is keeping a low profile for the moment, as she builds up her Servitors and promotes her Word in places focusing, for the moment, on choral music and peaceful communion.

In addition, she has been vigorously recruiting, venturing on downright /poaching/, Eli's abandoned Servitors. Since he has left, she has become gradually more and more dismayed and angered at Creation's apparent disregard for his duties, and supports Dominic's plans to bring him to trial, although she does not always approve of Judgment's tactless methods. Her Angels have standing orders to inform her of any orphans of Creation who seem in danger of Falling or wanting to transfer to her service, and to cooperate fully with Judgment in any investigations into the whereabouts of Eli, himself.

All of Harmony's Servitors are currently assigned in groups ranging from two to five Angels, and often including human Soldiers or Servants, as well. Angels of Harmony bond very strongly to others in their 'family', and usually are kept together for long-term assignments. They take the Falling or death of one of their members very, very strongly.

Dissonance: Angels of Harmony cannot knowingly disrupt a harmonious action (defined as the cooperative and interdependent actions of several entities for a greater purpose...a Choral singing of a Song counts, several people attacking a target do not, unless they're Voltron), nor can they intentionally create dissent or strife among mortals. This dissonance condition applies even to enemies! Additionally, all Servitors of Harmony are given the Songs of Harmony at level 1, automatically.

Choir Attunements

Seraphim-- (Restricted) The Most Holy in service to Harmony may use their resonance in concert with one another. Two or more Seraphim with this attunement who are within sight of each other, can resonate on the same or different targets. They /all/ get the resonance information from all successful attempts. However, if any of the harmonized Seraphim fail with a CD of 6, all of their resonances are affected.

Cherubim-- (Restricted) Guardians of Harmony with the Song of Lending may choose to have their resources or Forces lent to /all/ of their attuned, at a penalty to the TN equal to N-1, where N is the number of attuned. Every attuned gets the full and equal benefits of the Song.

Ofanim-- (Restricted) The Wheels of Harmony are shaping up to be unequaled masters of coordination. They may use their resonance to boost their Tactics rolls, as if it were an Agility-based skill. However, if they /fail/ the roll, they take dissonance, as per the normal rules.

Elohim-- The Powers of Harmony are negotiators for the most delicate and explosive situations. To equip them for the job, they are tuned to the Ethereal Song of Harmony, and may add their Ethereal Forces to the performance roll.

Malakim (Restricted)-- Charged with rooting out those who seek to spread disharmony and strife, the Virtues of Harmony may use their resonance to determine the last time their target knowingly provoked an argument, although they do not get the circumstances behind it. On a CD 6 success, they still detect Balseraphs, and they /also/ know if the Balseraph works for Factions or not.

Kyriotates-- Kyriotates of Harmony may direct others in choral Song (or little 's' song) performances. If one of their hosts (or the Kyrio in Celestial Form) is a member of a chorus, all members of that chorus (including the Kyriotate) may add the Angel's Celestial Forces to their Singing rolls, as long as all members of the chorus have consented to be led by the Kyriotate.

Mercurians-- With a successful Perception roll, the Friends of Man in service to Harmony can tell what is the biggest point of contention in a group, and how committed each member of the group is to compromise.

Servitor Attunements

Sacred Chorus
This requires multiple Angels to perform, at least half of which /must/ have this attunement. By encircling a target and raising their voices in glorious harmony, the sacred chorus can actually grant the target the experience of hearing the Symphony in all its wonder. While this is often done for new Soldier initiates, it has a more martial purpose when confronting a restrained demon...the true force of the Symphony tears at the personal symphony of an Infernal. While a demonic target is within the circle, he takes one Soul Hit a round for each chorus member, even within a Vessel or host. This /can/ remove a Force and result in soul death! However, disrupting one singer will break the effects of the whole attunement. Humans, even Saints, cannot use this servitor attunement.

Inner Harmony
By spending one Essence, a character with this Attunement can root themselves in the Symphony so firmly that it's almost impossible to dislodge them. For minutes equal to their total Forces, they may add their Celestial Forces to all attempts to resist Will-based resonances, or Songs or attunements meant to change their emotional or mental state. If the Song or attunement does not normally allow a roll to resist or negate, they still get one, at a target number equal to their Celestial Forces.

Powwow
By spending 4 Essence, a Servitor of Harmony with this attunement can consecrate an enclosed place to the purpose of Harmony. The targeted place must be limited by walls, fences, or some other barrier. For hours equal to the Angel's Corporeal Forces, all those within the room will feel more cooperative and eager to band together to find a solution to whatever they are discussing. Demons get a Perception roll to identify that there is something supernatural at work, although they will not gain knowledge of what, exactly, it is. It will just feel like a soothing chant, at the farthest edges of their hearing.

More well than neutral. They understand each other when they're talking about the more literal aspects of harmony, but Sophia /is/ very caught up in her Archangelic duties, the War, and harmony beyond a musical definition. Sophia's offered Israfel her Seraph attunement, but considering her attitude regarding Eli, I doubt Israfel accepted.
