I am now the proud (and extremely grateful) owner of the main Exalted book, so that I can make a character for a happy happy variant game. I've read through most of the player-oriented stuff, and it seems like a fun system (although White Wolf /still/ makes me twitch, just on general principles). I've even got a preliminary sheet written up for my character, although it's just stats and stuff...the background and so forth will come after I've got the details hammered out. Already, a fair amount is starting to percolate in my mind: my little combat monkey is a bit more clueful and social than I originally gave him credit for. Not much, perhaps, but still. I'm a little sad that getting Backgrounds appropriate to the character took up many of my freebies, but hey. He's nobility, and thus must be statted out as such.

He'll do, though. Oh, yes, he'll do. As long as no one gets his guns out of his hands, he'll do just fine.

Indeeed. Well, there are very few people to talk to in the wee hours of the morning. And I have to do /something/ in the bath. :p

Not.

Especially because I'm at work.
But I know what YOU'RE getting for your birthday.

That is because he is a Soul of Virtue and Kindness, and I am a Pit of Lechery and Despair.

And if anyone believes EITHER of those are true... :p

Hey, people can believe I'm a Soul of Virtue and Kindness all they want.

It'll just make them easier to corrupt.

...you have a point. *gives EDG the Corruption coronet*

Go forth and spread your own cute brand of evil!

Soon, soon my plans will reach their fruition (not to be confused with the Song), and all will be MINE.

Ooh ooh Exalted is much fun :) you get bonus die for doing cool things in combat :)

This is actually the part that worries me. I'm not all /that/ great at describing combat scenes, I fear. Especially in text. When tabletopping, I've been known to jump up and demonstrate a particularly tricky bit of action when I can't think of words to describe it.

*chuckles* I suck at combat scenes, totally, and I fear I'd be even worse in face-to-face than in text. Which is why I always play geeks characters who don't fight.

Although, someone once said I did a good scene playing a hobbit fighting an Orc two or three times her size. But, it was a silly scene..

I'm curious, what don't you like about White Wolf? I like it quite a bit, except for the fact that they keep coming out with new books each year or so that render all the old ones obsolete. One nice thing about IN is you can cover the system adequately without spending oodles of money.

Oh, describing combat scenes is /much/ easier with my face to face group than it is online. You can make gestures, and say things like, "The way that guy did! On that show! You know, the show with the robots and the woman!"

Re: White Wolf. I'm not endeared of the system...I'd do away with most of the statted 'Backgrounds', I think, but the theme also just doesn't appeal to me that much. I don't like existential angst, and most of WWs system themes seem to come down to, "Oh, I am an outsider. I am a monster. The world doesn't know about me, but if it did, it would hate and fear me, and I am fighting a battle which I will ultimately lose. Oh, woe is me. Woe." Vampire being the worst offender, here, of course.

Ultimately, I'm looking for some fun and relaxation in a game, and the WoD just doesn't do it for me. It's possible that I might look into it again when the reboot happens, if it's a little more Exaltedy.
