While researching articles for a paper for Intro to Counseling, I ran into a three month long academic bitchfight. It's beautiful stuff, man. Spooge runs from all sides.

The original poster has a very /long/ article published which includes his brand new shiny theory. Three respondents chime in in the next issue with cultured disdain, making veiled accusations of incompetence and 'imperialism' in one case. The OP responds with a truly wankerrific screed in which he complains that the respondents are, essentially, meanies who didn't really /read/ the article and have the collective academic skills of a tuna. Featured are: Imperialism, the gratuitous abuse of the phrase 'and to wit', and the frantic waving of credentials by all concerned.

Academia. It's like Fandom_Wank, in a way.

You know moments like that you just need to break out the tape measure to see who really does have the biggest credentials ;)

Bah. Everyone knows it's not the size of your credentials, it's how often you publish them! ;P

Publishing often, then, is overcompensation for a lack of ability to solicit grants, then?
