Regardless of your ideological leanings, it's always worth keeping an eye on potential changes in your nation's election processes: Possibility of Postponed Election Day Raised (USA). Note that no actions have been taken yet, Ridge is merely raising the possibility of requesting this power for Homeland Security in the event of a terrorist attack near the election day.

Because, you know, a scheduled terrorist attack wouldn't happen on the day they finally do hold an election.

I can imagine the uproar... the marriage rights amendment hasn't gotten much press, but this will turn the entire nation on Bush.

You know, I wish that I could believe that it would, assuming that it happened (which I'm not yet saying it will). But I doubt it. My faith in the majority of humanity has taken several rather significant hits in the last four years.

My opinion (that and $0.50 will buy you a cup of coffee) is such:

Enough already with the threatening us with a possible terrorist attack. It's getting old, and I'm getting annoyed. Leave the election day alone. If they're too afraid to vote, then they don't have to. Remember - it's your choice as to whether or not to vote.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think the 'threat levels' do anything for the general population at all. They /might/ be useful for the professionals assigned to deal with terrorist threats, and they certainly give the pundits something to jabber about, but does the average person know what do to for each threat level? Do they care?

Except he didn't even raise the threat level. Making it even more obvious it was just a political stunt.

*chuckles* Yes. I rambled off on an entirely different topic, I fear.
